Top Moisturising Tips for your Hands and Feet this Winter!

Thea Skincare Super Nourish Super Hydration face Exfoliant, £22.95

At this time of the year I notice that my hands and feet become extremely dry.  I am starting to pay more attention to these areas of my body and to use skincare products that are deeply nourishing and hydrating.

My hands take a pounding as they are in and out of water each day so I always have a jar of my favourite creams nearby at all times.

Thea Skincare Ultra Sooting Foot Creme and the Coconut and Jojoba Hand Cream do just the trick. These Organic Moisturisers are great for the hands and feet. I apply them at any time during the day or night.

For Very Dry Skin and cracked heels the Thea Skincare Rooibos Shea Butter is one of the best products. It's actually one of the best creams for dry skin in the entire Thea Skincare range - I use it as a booster to keep my feet hydrated and soft almost every night on top of my regular foot cream. It contains one of the higest levels of natural antioxidants and natural mositurisers and is a great Natural Skincare Product for those extra dry patches.

Thea's top 6 tips for great hands and feet this winter

Deluxe Vitamin Rich Skincare Range - For Dry Skin in Winter

The weather is getting colder and along with it our skin is getting drier. Naturally, our skin has a lipid layer near the surface that keeps moisture locked in but during the autumn and winter, harsh winds combined with indoor heating systems that dry out the air in your home deplete this lipid layer and leave your skin feeling dry and itchy. Short of buying an expensive humidifier to keep the air around you moist, there is plenty that you can do within your daily skincare routine to combat the cold weather and keep your skin summer fresh all year long.

The key is to stick to richer, thicker products that are specifically designed to pump back that lost moisture into your skin, as well as creating a protective barrier against any further water loss. Thea Skincare has developed a range of skincare products specifically designed to treat dry skin naturally - filled with natural, organic ingredients, Super Nourish is a range of luxurious face and body care products formulated to leave your skin soft, supple and silky-smooth.

Enriched with natural, botanical ingredients, Super Nourish captures the amazing, skin-moisturising properties that many plants and flowers hold and brings them together into a range of creams, scrubs and serums that are bursting full of vitamins and nutrients to give you gorgeous, glowing skin.

STEPS TO SOFT SKIN THIS WINTER:

Start off with a cleanser that will replenish your skin at the same time as it strips away dirt and impurities - Thea Skincare Super Nourish Moisture Rich Facial Cleanser is the ideal choice for anyone with dry or very dry skin. It contains vitamins A, B and E which all help to protect and treat dry skin whilst also giving you a slight sunscreen factor of SPF 6 (and yes, you do need to wear SPF in winter too!). The matching Moisture Rich Facial Toner is rich in Vitamin C and will restore the pH balance of your skin.

Follow up with what is probably most important skincare products during the winter time - you'll need to use a rich, thick moisturiser to combat the dry air. For your face, try Thea Skincare Super Nourish Nutri-Rich Daytime Face Creme during the day and Super Nourish Softly Softly Day & Night Face Creme just before you go to bed - wild blueberry, cranberry, coconut and green clay make this the perfect overnight treatment for very dry and tired skin, meaning you'll wake up in the morning with skin that's feeling replenished and super smooth.

Finally, don't forget to moisturise your body too. Many women take great care of the skin on their face but neglect the rest of their body and this skin needs just as much TLC as the parts that are constantly on show. Dry indoor air caused by winter heating will affect your entire body so a luxurious, deeply-penetrating body moisturiser such as Thea Skincare Super Nourish Deluxe Beautiful Body Creme is essential for soft, healthy-looking skin all over.

5 stars - "It was deliciously rich and soaked right into my skin. I was amazed within a few days most of my dry patches had gone and my skin was visibly smoother. I'm addicted to this now" (Ruby, Nottingham)

5 stars - "It’s rich but soft and penetrates my skin so easily without leaving a sticky feeling. I just love it" (Vida, Leeds)

Winter skincare - Thea's top tips

I am starting to see my skin getting dryer now that the weather is changing. Many people fall into a rut of using the same products all year round but it is important to recognise the fact that you'll need to treat your skin differently during the different seasons. Just like applying sunscreen in summer, winter also needs a specific skincare routine to protect it from the elements. I review the skincare products that I am using regularly to make sure I have healthy, protected skin throughout the autumn and winter months.

It is at this time of the year that I really start to pile on the moisturizer and use thicker creams all over my body. I always use a foot cream or foot lotion but over the past few weeks as my skin has become dryer I have started to use the Thea Skincare hand and body beauty butter. This cream is wonderfully rich without being greasy and is great for dry or very dry skin. I've used it all over but especially for dry skin patches such as elbows and knees that need a richer, deeper-penetrating moisturiser than other areas of the body.

Thea Skincare's 100% natural Super Nourish Body Butter for hand & body keeps skin soft, smooth and protected from the harsh winter weather

I love foaming face cleansers, especially the Rebalance Clarity Foaming Face Cleanser, which is one of my favourite products in the Thea Skincare collection. It's gentle and gives a really deep cleanse without drying your skin out like many of the chemical based foaming cleansers that I've used before. I still use a foaming cleanser at the moment but I have started to use a cream cleanser more frequently as my skin gets dryer.
Thea Skincare Age Revival Detox Face Cleanser is another favourite of mine. I call it the antioxidant 'power house', as it's loaded with fantastic age-defying natural antioxidants which make it a great anti-aging cleanser, plus it gives you a deep but gentle cleanse.

In the summer, I use a day moisturizer both during the night and the day but in winter I step up my game and use a thicker night cream such as the Aloe and Vitamin C Replenishing Face Crème to hydrate my skin over night and replenish it with much needed vitamins.

My favourite handy product that I carry everywhere is the Age Revival Uplifting Eye Cream. It soothes and penetrates the skin under and around my eyes with ease. I carry it around with me everywhere I go - day, night, holidays... Just like my lipstick, I would not be the same without it!

Effectively Treat Rosacea with Natural Skincare Products

Treat Rosacea with Thea Skincare

Rosacea, like Acne, can be distressing, persistent and difficult to treat.

The condition is a form of extremely Sensitive Skin so treat it with great care. Many high-street skincare products will contain chemicals or alcohol that have an adverse affect on sensitive skin.

Using Natural and Organic products without chemicals and without ingredients such as alcohol can help to alleviate Rosacea and improve the condition of the skin. Whatever your Skincare Routine the key is to use Natural Products and have a skin care routine that will minimise or alleviate irritations to the skin.

Using Natural Products designed  for sensitive skin and sun-damaged skin will help to address Rosacea, such as the Thea Skincare Natural Harmony range.

Thea's Natural Harmony Perfect Me Facial Cleanser is alcohol free and has mild but effective  natural cleansing ingredients. It is one of the most gentle and mildest cleansers in the Thea Skincare Collection.
If you have Rosacea you should also consider using a hydrating and replenishing moisturizer, one that is designed for sun-damaged and sensitive skin. The Thea Skincare Natural Harmony Perfect Me Moisturiser is ideal, providing ultimate moisturisation and nourishment for the treatment of Rosacea.
Avoid using an astringent that burns or irritates the skin and also avoid using toners and other skin care products with alcohol in them.

Using a gentle toner which is rich in natural moisturizers such as Aloe Vera as in Thea Clarity Calming Facial Toner will help to calm the skin and reduce or stop the irritation.

The Thea Skincare Rebalance range is especially formulated to calm and treat skin problems such as Rosacea, Acne and Oily Skin

Thea's top tips for treating Rosacea are:

1.      Use Natural and Organic, chemical-free Skincare Products that are pH balanced for the skin.
2.      Use fragrance free Skincare Products that are designed for sensitive skin and sun-damaged skin.
3.      Use soap free cleansers and face cleansers with natural mild ingredients.
4.      Do not use an astringent with alcohol - instead use a gentle Facial Toner with Moisturizers
5.      Use a moisturizer designed for Sensitive Skin with rich natural hydrating ingredients.
6.      Try to avoid using lots of different Skincare Products and always test them first (on your arm or neck) before using them on your face.

Treat Dry Skin and Cure Eczema, Naturally

What is Eczema?
Basically, eczema and dermatitis mean much the same thing, an inflammation of the skin. They cause dry, red, itchy skin which may also blister.

Who Suffers from Eczema?
The number of people with eczema is increasing. It affects any age and skin colour and can  be difficult to treat.

How Can I Treat Eczema?
Personally, I suffer from having very dry skin,  particularly in the winter months, so I try to keep my skin as hydrated as possible at all times. I use Super Nourish Deluxe Vitamin Rich Body Crème daily as a body moisturiser. It does exactly what it says on the bottle, leaving your dry skin wonderfully nourished and hydrated - a great treatment for eczema!

Treat dry skin and cure eczema with a rich, organic body moisturiser from Thea Skincare

Most people have what is called Atopic Eczema. In this case, there is no apparent reason why the eczema may 'flare-up' from time to time. However, some flare-ups may be triggered or made worse by irritants to the skin, or other factors such as the type of skin care products being used, detergents, diet and clothing.

If you suffer from eczema it is best to use chemical free skin care products which do not contain ingredients that will aggravate and inflame the skin. The use of natural and organic skincare products will certainly help to heal the skin. One of the best treatments for this is the Thea Skincare Dry Skin Beauty Butter Hand and Body Crème. It contains revolutionary healing ingredients such as such as Organic Shea, Calendula Butter, Avocado and Carrot Oils and the very best vitamins to treat dry skin, Vitamins A, B, C and E. It is a wonderful cure for dry skin, eczema and psoriasis.

If you have eczema, one of the first things you should do is to seek medical advice. Use Natural and Organic Skin Care Products and use chemical free products for bathing or in the shower. One of the most important things you should do is moisturize twice daily with a rich Dry Skin Moisturizer.

Get rid of acne the natural way - rated 5 stars by customers!

Get clean, clear skin the natural way with Thea Skincare
If you have or have ever had acne, oily skin or spots you will know how stressful and demoralising it and the frustration that it causes. I have a good friend who suffered from acne for many years - most of her teenage and adult life - and when I asked her to try the Thea Skincare range aimed at getting rid of acne she quite flatly refused, saying that she had tried everything possible and nothing worked.

I persisted and to even my own amazement, after just 3 months her skin was acne free. Now she has an even skin tone which is beautiful, smooth and clear. Thea Skincare acne treatment products worked for my friend and I am delighted, as well as sure that they can do the same for you.

Thea Skincare Rebalance Clarity Foaming Face Cleanser, only £13.95

So, what is the main cause of acne and how can Natural and Organic Skincare products help to get rid of acne and stop spots?

Our skin has thousands of tiny hair follicles. Each has a sebaceous gland that produces an oily substance called sebum. Excessive sebum coupled with stress, poor diet and using chemically-loaded skincare products can lead to acne and even scarring. Thea Skincare Clarity Foaming Face Cleanser, rated five stars by customers, is scientifically formulated with only Natural and Organic ingredients, containing a blend of essential oils designed to fight and combat acne without irritating the skin. The facial cleanser is effective for all ages and all skin types.

It is vital that anyone with acne uses a non alcohol based cleanser such as Thea Skincare Clarity Foaming Face Cleanser and a Natural and Organic moisturiser such as the Thea Skincare Clarity Crème Face Moisturiser, also rated five stars by those who have used it, which has been specifically formulated for acne prone skin. Using a product containing alcohol, which many of the high-street 'anti acne' skincare products do, dries the skin out which in turn causes the body to produce even more sebum, causing spots and acne.
The 1,2,3 step process "" Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise" is the basis for a good skincare routine. You may think that with oily skin a moisturiser will only make the problem worse but as with skincare products containing alcohol, not moisturising will cause the skin to dry out and produce sebum to compensate, leading to even oilier skin and more spots.

Using anti-acne products such as those in the Thea Skincare range can provide a simple way of getting rid of acne. Cleansing followed by toning with a gentle alcohol-free toner that contains anti-acne ingredients, followed by a suitable face cream, will not only combat your acne but improve the tone and quality of your skin as it has done for my good friend Jo.

Rooibos... The Long Life Tea Combats Acne and Eczema for Pure Natural Beauty

Rooibos tea - a super anti-oxidant for wonderfully clear, detoxed skin. It helps fight against acne, oily skin and eczema.
It was when I first visited Africa a few years ago tha I discovered the wonderful tea Rooibos.
I can see now why the Japanese called it the 'Long Life Tea' as it is a really remarkable ingredient, one of the most powerful anti-aging ones around today. If you've not heard about Rooibos before it is not really a surprise as Rooibos is only grown in a small area in South Africa - the Cederberg region. Most of us know it as 'redbush tea'.

As I continue to learn more about Natural and Organic skincare ingredients I have learnt that Rooibos, like many types of tea leaves, has also been found to contain lots of antioxidants. In addition, unlike green tea, Rooibos is naturally caffeine free and has low levels of skin-drying tannin, which can be found in higher concentrations in both black and green tea.

Rooibos is what I would call a super antioxidant and one of the most beneficial skincare products around. It is centuries old but only now do we recognise it's beneficial properties both as a tea and as a natural skincare product.

One of my favourite Thea Skincare products that contains a high level of Rooibos is the Anti-Aging Uplifting Face Creme. It's gentle, easy to apply and penetrates the skin with great ease. I love products that have a high level of Rooibos as they're kind on the skin but still effectively nourish it. Thea Skincare Uplifting Eye Crème and the wonderfully rich Rooibos Shea Body and Foot Butter are just a few Natural Beauty products which are great for the skin in every way and have fabulous anti-aging properties.

Due to the high amounts of antioxidants in the Rooibos leaves, this ingredient helps to rid the body of stubborn lingering toxins, making it a great detox drink too.

The strong antioxidant properties that the plant holds can also benefit the skin. Rooibos has a high Asphalatin flavonoid content which helps to fight signs of aging and has soothing effects on the skin for acne and eczema. Thea Skincare Clarity Crème Moisturiser which contains a high level of these ingredients is a powerful product for acne, oily and breakout prone skin.

Rooibos is a unique ingredient - whether it is drank as a tea or used in skincare products, it is is mild enough to be suitable for all ages and for both men and women.

The Natural Alternative to Botox - Get Rid of Wrinkles with Thea Skincare

As we age our skin starts to dry out and lose its elasticity, causing fine lines and wrinkles to appear. Unfortunately, every time you smile you crease the skin around your eyes so ironically over time the happiest people may find themselves with the most obvious wrinkles! Many people nowadays are turning to Botox as a quick fix which is not only an expensive and short-term solution but it can also cause rashes, swelling, drooping eyelids - not exactly the youthful look you were aiming for - and more serious side effects such as difficulty breathing. Luckily, there is an alternative that is not only pain-free but also 100% natural and chemical-free.

Thea Skincare Anti-Aging Uplifting Eye-Creme, only £11.95

In an age where much of our skincare routine is based on chemicals, many natural resources such as lavender and aloe are overlooked which have amazing anti-aging properties whilst being kind and gentle on the skin at the same time. The skin around your eyes is particularly thin and can be more sensitive than other areas of the face, creating the need for a dedicated skincare routine that targets this area without the use of harsh chemicals. Thea Skincare's Anti-Aging Uplifting Eye-Creme has been specially developed to harness these impressive anti-aging properties found in natural resources, bringing you an effective and organic product that will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area.

So what does Thea Skincare's Anti-Aging Uplifting Eye-Creme contain? 91% organic and 100% natural, the nutrient rich formula contains a blend of aloe juice to seal in moisture, olive and jojoba oils to deeply moisturise and hydrate, Rooibos tea as a powerful antioxidant to slow down the aging process and protect against free radicals, lavender and pomegranate extracts to soothe the skin and reduce puffiness, evening primrose oil to encourage skill regeneration and blue green algae which contains a high concentration of vitamins and minerals to actively retexture, repair and detoxify the skin. The Anti-Aging Uplifting Eye-Creme also contains hyaluronic acid which is a substance found naturally in the skin, the loss of which as we age is a major cause of wrinkles. This cream formula will actively feed the natural hyaluronic acid back into your skin for a youthful, dewy appearance.

Strong-acting, only a very small amount of Thea Skincare's Anti-Aging Uplifting Eye-Creme needs to be applied morning and night to the delicate skin under and around the eyes, meaning that at just £11.95 the 10ml pot will last for ages! The result? Prepare to find yourself with noticeably smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin that is wonderfully hydrated and dewy. Don't believe me? Exfoliate and polish dead skin cells away for Pure Natural Beauty

I was horrified to learn that in the lifetime of an average person we shed around 40 kilos of dead skin and that 90% of our household dust come from dead skin!

Learning these facts took me back to the first time I went to Malawi in Africa and experienced an afternoon ritual with the ladies of the village. One afternoon, I was sitting by Lake Malawi and all the women from the village came down to the river. There was not a man in sight.

They took their clothes off, old and young alike, and started rubbing the fine warm sand all over their bodies before jumping in and out of the lake, splashing about in the river whilst they washed the sand away. This was women of all ages in a remote village recognising the need to exfoliate and wash away their dead skin but having fun with it at the same time. So I started to think about why it was so important to exfoliate your body and how natural and organic products are the best for exfoliating the skin.

My favourite body exfoliator from the Thea Skincare range is the wonderfully smooth Walnut and Chamomile Body Glow Polish which does exactly what it says on the tin - it makes your body glow and polishes the skin just like fine sand did for those women in Malawi.

Thea Skincare Natural Harmony Walnut and Chamomile Body Polish
Exfoliating your body regularly will not only get rid of those thousands of dead skin cells that we all shed each day but it also helps to bring fresh nutrients to the surface of the skin, nourishing and hydrating it. It also makes it much easier for your body crème such as Rooibos Shea Body & Foot Butter (one of my personal favourites) or your body moisturiser such as Thea Skincare Super Nourish Deluxe Vitamin Rich Body Crème to penetrate, feed and hydrate the skin for ultimate long lasting smoothness and Natural Beauty.

Pure Natural Beauty with Coconut Oil - all you need to know about the 'Tree of Life'

The Coconut Tree, also known as the Tree of Life, is what I would describe as a miracle tree. It really is in a class of it's own as every single part of it can be used from the leaves right down to roots, with each and every part of this tree offering great natural beauty benefits.
This Natural Beauty ingredient has some amazing properties and uses and can be found in a range of Thea Skincare products.

Thea Skincare Uplifting Face Creme contains coconut oil to balance, moisturise and plump the skin

Here are my top 10 uses of the 'Tree of Life':
1. The fruit of the coconut is a good source of protein and a detox ingredient and is a main ingredient for salads and other sweet delicacies.
2. Coconut Water is a wonderfully refreshing, healthy drink and is great for re-hydration and kidney cleansing.
3. Coconut Oil is a fantastic skincare moisturiser with amazing benefits for the skin, hair, and face. It is also known for it's anti-microbial properties.
4. Coconut Roots can be use for beverages, dyes, and medicinal purposes.

Vitamin E - nature's best beauty product!

Vitamin E, my antidote for natural beauty

Vitamin E - the best anti-aging, antioxidant product that nature has created!

I would never use a skincare product, in particular for my face, that didn't contain Vitamin E.
Vitamin E is one of the main ingredients in natural and organic skincare products. It's a brilliant moisturiser and antioxidant to help to slow down the aging process and give you a beautiful, youthful glow. It is also good for treating sunburn and is an invaluable treatment for reducing the appearance of scars.

In fact, I love it so much that Vitamin E found in almost every Thea Skincare product, from face cleansers to moisturisers, body creams to body lotions, body scrubs to exfoliators and many more.

Vitamin-E rich Rooibos Shea Butter Creme moisturiser for body and feet from Thea Skincare, £19.95

So, Why Do I Love Vitamin E?

Vitamin E is simply one of the best naturally-occurring ingredients and can be found in many of the natural oils that make up Thea Skincare products such as coconut oil, carrot oil, shea butter, jojoba oil and certain antioxidant extracts like Green Tea. It's just one of the best natural ingredients for pure Natural Beauty.
Vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant which means that it helps to actually slow down the aging process whilst at the same time it can help to reduce the visible signs of aging and fine lines already apparent on the face and body.

Vitamin E also one of the most effective anti-aging ingredients in good skincare products such as Thea's Rooibos Shea Body Crème. It also protects the skin from environmental damage and can act as natural sunscreen to help prevent sunburn, with a natural SPF of around factor 6.

Vitamin E is one of the best Natural Beauty skincare products I've ever known and used. It's
affordable and extremely good for both the skin and diet so use it well... it's a natural pot of gold!

Keep your skin youthful and soft from top to toe with Thea Skincare's Vitamin-E rich Rooibos Shea Butter creme

pH Balanced Skin Is Healthy Skin!

Thea Skincare products are pH balanced to be kind on all skin types

You might remember studying pH in Chemistry at school, measuring how acidic or alkaline things were on the pH Scale - 1 is the most acidic, 14 is the most alkaline and 7 is neutral.  Our skin has a protective outer layer (the Acid Mantle) which is naturally acidic and generally has a pH of between 4.5 and 6 depending on the person.

It's very important to look after our Acid Mantle because it helps to prevent and fight infections, retain moisture and keep germs out. If the skin's pH balance is disrupted, it can cause skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea, extreme dryness or premature ageing.  Using skincare products that are not pH balanced can strip the skin of its natural oils and even make your skin more prone to acne.

Reassuringly, all Thea Skincare formulas are perfectly pH balanced for natural beauty - all products have a pH level of between 4.5 and 6 so as to not disrupt your skin's natural balance.

Choosing Oils, Moisturisers and Body Cremes that are great for your skin

As we age, our skin produces less natural oil (sebum) which can affect the Acid Mantle and its ability to protect the skin. To keep the outer layer of our skin healthy we need a good natural moisturiser. The best natural moisturisers are those which contain botanical oils such as Jojoba, Coconut, Palm Oil and Olive Oil - that work in harmony with our skin to 'top up' sebum levels. Take a look at Thea's Age Revival range to help keep your sebum levels healthy.

Antioxidants are such powerful anti-ageing ingredients!

Antioxidants work hard to protect and strengthen the skin's Acid Mantle, preventing premature ageing. Thea Skincare natural & organic products contain high levels of age-defying Antioxidants such as Vitamins A, C, and E, Rooibos Tea & Green Tea. For the best daily skincare routine that keeps your skin in tip-top condition, I recommend using a mild natural cleanser and moisturizer that is pH balanced and high in Antioxidants.

Thea Skincare has a range of natural and organic skincare products for every skin type. For those of you with sensitive or sun-damaged skin, try these gorgeous facial products:

Your skin is an organ - feed it well with natural skincare products!

I'm always amazed when I read about our skin and how it's the largest organ of our body. If we start to think about our skin as what it is - an organ that covers the whole of our body - then we can begin to think better about how we should care for it and treat it like any other of our valuable organs.

To keep our skin healthy and to give it natural beauty, it needs these 3 things (just like any other organ):
  1. Nutrients: in other words 'good skin food'. I am certain that natural and organic skincare products are the best skin nourishers. It's like the difference between eating fresh fruit and a packet of sweets! Unlike many high-street (and even luxury) skincare brands, natural and organic products are chemical and toxin free and deeply penetrate the skin layers, providing nourishment for healthy looking skin. Highly nourished skin ages more slowly, feels more supple and looks radiant. I’ve been using natural and organic skincare products for years now and my skin tone is balanced and hydrated, my wrinkles are reduced and I have a clear, spot free, dewy complexion (if I may say so myself!). I feed my skin at least twice daily with  Thea Skincare Clarity Foaming Face Cleanser and use Thea Skincare Uplifting Eye Crème to hydrate the delicate area around my eyes that are prone to wrinkles. I also use a lovely uplifting face crème and a natural organic body moisturiser  from the Thea Skincare Range. My natural beauty skincare routine is simple, inexpensive and it works for me!
  1. Drink water:  I drink plenty of it, plus I drink tea throughout the day (Rooibos, Green or White Tea) which is packed with plenty of anti-aging antioxidants to hydrate and flush out toxins. My tip of the day is to drink a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon first thing in the morning - at least an hour before you eat anything - which is great for flushing out all those stale overnight toxins. It also helps to hydrate and cleanse the skin for natural beauty.
  1. Exercise: it helps the body to take in more oxygen and squeeze out those hard to remove toxins, boosting your energy levels. I love a light jog after a heavy day and, when I can't, I just walk to the shops instead of driving. A couple of times a week I do Yoga which helps me to relax and tones my body. I am sure regular exercise is great for achieving radiant, natural beauty!
Great skin doesn't need to be expensive!

You really don't have to be a celebrity and spend a fortune to have good skin. Nourishing your skin with 'good quality food' will pay dividends. You can look 10 years younger by using organic skincare products and following this simple 1-2-3 skincare routine twice a day:

Step 1: Cleanse with a good natural and organic pH balanced cleanser for your skin type. If you're unsure where to start, try Thea's Natural Harmony Perfect Me Cleanser which gives a really deep cleanse and is mild on even the most sensitive of skin.
Step 2: Tone with an organic tone to hydrate and balance your skin and remove any excess cleanser such as Thea's Calming Facial Toner.
Step 3: Moisturise, moisturise and moisturise to let your skin drink. Thea Skincare offers a range of natural and organic body moisturisers and face moisturisers to suit every skin type - including sensitive, blemished and sun-damaged skin.

Skincare for Healthy, Clear Skin

What is Clear Skin?

I've often wondered what people mean when they say "I want to have clear skin".
Do I have clear skin?
She wants her skin to be clear?
The problem is I don't have clear skin!?

I've been thinking about the words 'clear skin' and have been trying to interpret what I think it means. My first reaction was to ask as many people as I know - family, friends, colleagues and even my kids - what they understand 'clear skin' to mean. My friend Jo told me, "I want my skin to be clear of spots". Jo has a long suffering breakout problem and she said it was a small miracle when she discovered Thea Skincare - she now uses the Thea Skincare Clarity Foaming Face Cleanser and Thea Skincare Clarity Creme Moisturiser and recently told me that she has not had one spot in three weeks!

I couldn't relate to this because I am lucky enough not to have this problem of regular spot breakouts, so I struggled at first to see why she was so excited about her spots being 'under control'! I do know now and I am delighted to see how happy she was with her new found, spot-free skin.

Another friend of mine had a different concern. Mary's idea of 'clear skin' would be to have skin which is not dry and flaky. Until recently, she had very dry skin and I have to admit also quite a few wrinkles. Mary wants 'clear skin', i.e. skin without any dry patches.

Ruby on the other hand wants 'clear skin' that holds back time - it has to be wrinkle free and not dull or sluggish. She wants skin that makes her look much younger. Ruby wants to have anti-ageing products with, as she puts it, "lots of those antioxidants which make you look younger". So, her idea of 'clear skin' is having less wrinkles, reduced age spots and blemish-free, vibrant skin.

Then there's me – what is my view of 'clear skin'? I want my skin to be blemish free at all times, in all weather conditions, wherever I am! I hate the thought of having a spot breakout. I want an even skin tone and silky smooth skin, not just on my face but also on my body, and to be honest, I really do not want to work too hard to achieve this either. I have a busy lifestyle, hence I have a regular skincare routine that is not complicated and does not involve many different steps. It is based on organic skincare products with natural ingredients which are always paraben free (see my recent blog post to find out why parabens are so dangerous for your health!)

So, here's my simple morning routine:
And here is my evening routine:
And then there's my monthly treat:
That's it – and my skin gets better as I get older.

Best wishes

Caring For Black Skin in Your Diet and Skincare Regime

Special Skincare Treats for Black Skin

I've often wondered if black skin benefits from different skincare ingredients, after all skin is skin, right? Well, yes but as well as using products for your skin type you should ideally look for skincare ingredients that are more beneficial for your skin colour.

Personally, my black skin responds best to nutrient rich paraben free, natural and organic skincare products as these products that do not contain chemicals such as sodium methyl paraben which can cause de-pigmentation in darker skin, or petroleum jellies which can cause hyper-pigmentation. Both of these conditions result in an uneven skin tone which is likely to be more apparent in black skin.

It was Mother's Day in the UK recently and I was talking to my mother about skincare products. I was complimenting her on her wonderful, spotless, even and smooth skin. She replied that from an early age she used coconut oil on her skin, to wash her hair and in her diet. Her mother use to make virgin coconut oil from coconuts picked daily from the trees on their land. Our family have used it throughout our lives as a skincare and cooking ingredient.

So,what is so special about coconut oil as a skincare ingredients and why is it so good, in particular for black skin? Well, it's skincare benefits are endless. It wards off sun damage, prevents premature aging, reduces age spots, soothes chapped lips, heals hard skin on the feet and is high in anti-aging anti-oxidants. I could go on forever about how wonderful coconut oil is - no wonder the coconut tree is called the 'tree of life'! It's numerous properties make it a highly compatible ingredient for black skin.

Thea Skincare Super Nourish range is packed with coconut oil alongside other moisturising natural oils such as Jojoba and Palm oils. These combined with other natural ingredients such as organic Aloe, Vitamins A and C and avocado make it the perfect range for black skin.

Another favourite ingredient of mine is avocado, I just love it. It's taste, colour and cooking flexibility make it an awesome ingredient both for the skin and for the diet. Avocado originates from South America and is a fantastic skincare ingredient for black skin. It helps to protect your skin from the sun, has superior moisturising effects and has excellent skin regeneration properties. The South Americans called it the 'Alligator Pear'. It's also a rich source of Vitamins A, B, D and E and contains more potassium, known as the 'youth mineral', than the banana. It's just a wonderful and rich ingredient that's really great for black skin.

Papaya, papaya, papaya! This is one of my all time favourite fruits. It's taste is amazing and is one of the most beneficial skin care ingredients that I have come across. It's rich in antioxidants and also contains enzymes called Papain which have a natural exfoliation and skin brightening effect on the skin. This fruit is better than gold for me and it helps to produce wonderful clear skin. Papaya is a must have ingredient for black skin. Thea Skincare products include an organic papaya and pineapple exfoliation face mask which is excellent for getting rid of those dead, dull skin cells and promotes natural skin renewal.

As well as feeding your skin from the outside you need to nourish it from within too. Here's one of my favourite summer recipes using my favourite skincare ingredients, go on try it - a healthy, balanced diet full of nutrient-rich, natural ingredients is essential for healthy, glowing skin.
